Happy Birthday "My Vintage Heart"

Happy Birthday "My Vintage Heart"
Today is my friend Susan's birthday
This talented lady is one of our dealers at the village.
I mention her often in post... remember.
So glad that we have gotten to know each other over the years ~
so glad that she is vital part of the village family.

She knows the best places for treasures, has a keen eye for all things vintage
& display of found treasures (at home or the village)
the best part... a dear friend that means a lot to me.
I thought I had a picture I could share of Susan (see the spot above) but it wasn't her (sorry).
We have many things in common... camera shy (don't like pictures of us...I will try hard to catch her in a picture and share that with you later) the love of junk,
the love of the hunt for treasures, the love of family & the love of friends. She loves Roses (so do I...), the love of collections, the love of being an antique/collectible dealer.
I could go on and on. If not for friends like her, this business would get pretty lonely.

Susan is that dear friend that I can't imagine not having.
So, happiest of birthdays today ~ "My Vintage Heart"
Only the best in the coming year(s) is what I wish for you.
Thanks for being my friend & sharing so much about our business of bliss always.

Happy Birthday Rhonda & Dyanne ~ It's Almost Mothers Day

Happy Birthday Wishes~!
It's Almost Mother's Day.

Bed~ Dyanne & Lt~ Rhonda
friends from the village both have birthdays today.
Wishing both of you a spectacular day ~ only the best for you both in the year ahead.
These special ladies, part of our village family deserve to have all their wishes come true,
all days ~ but especially on their birthdays ~ May 7.
Since Sunday is Mother's Day ~ I have a special post planned for our children.
Blessed to have been their Mother for all these years.
Why, they are both remarkable ~ so a special tribute
to Lindsey & Clayton.... so glad I'm their Mom.
For today ~ some funnies as the days near that we celebrate Mom's ~ these were part of an email received from Nannie (my wonderful Mom) this morning. To funny....
WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers given by 2ND grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3.. To help us out of there when we were getting born..

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.
What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1. We're related..
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's mom like me.

What kind of a little girl was your mom?
1. My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms and dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller and stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friends.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time..
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue..

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

blessed to be a Mom ~ blessed to have a Mom... ~one vintage hag

Good Friends
by: Jane D. Tilley

Good friends, like colorful flowers,
keep blooming in and out of one's life.
Some are small and delicate of nature;
others are large and aggressive.

All are welcome and a pleasure to behold,
whether gathered as a mixed bouquet or like a single rose.

All enhance one's life and help one's personality to grow.
What a blend of bouquets and potpourri is gathered in a lifetime.

A true and colorful assortment of memories,
and good friends are forever.

Do you ever wonder what this ~hag is up to.... well basically I'm always busy, good busy.

Wonder you do. About what this ~hag is up to.
Well it's really quite simple ~ she's busy. Good busy but just plain busy.
When I'm not packaging up Janna ~Artsy Fartsy's giveaway package,
celebrating Vintage Village's 12~th birthday, shopping for junk, or posting on this little blog
these days... I can be found in the garden. Which garden? Well, all of them.
Above is the outside hag lane garden at the village.
Whimsy, Ratso, Lbi & Carlique helped with that too,
I will be found giving credit where credit is due.

I can be found planting baby knock out roses ~ always enjoy ours at home so the village
needed some for sure. This baby will be big in no time ~ watch & see.

Or perhaps you can find me ~ taking pictures of Carlique's toad abode ~
a special addition on hag lane.
It's hard to tell with this photo but these old clay pots have much moss ~ to provide a cool
damp toad habitat for those darling (maybe not) toads
who chose to reside with us in the hag lane garden.

Maybe, I'll be found trying to capture the beauty of this multi colored lantana ~ a favorite on my list ~ nestled in the wheelbarrow at the village with this
beautiful vintage pink light cover
who's homes here because it's broken pretty bad.
So, re purposed in this garden spot to reflect the light of the sun.

Or, you just may find me at home in those favorite garden spots. In the front garden
of our home ~ cozy, quaint & even some of my favorite chippy junk for our little abode.
Rabbits ~ situated amongst all our favorite posies that we enjoy year round.

Amongst my favorites at home ~ Lambs Ear, Shasta Daisy's, Knock out Roses ~ are just a few with this chippy garden rake with a darling birdhouse ~ that we actually leased to a small finch this year for her nest & babies. Her real estate agent said it was the prime spot ~ I could be found worrying about this nest~ being so close to the ground ~
Changa, the Siamese cat is around our home often to visit with Sebastian~
I didn't want Mama's precious bird babies to be in harms way.
Shhhh... I told them as I watered posies, they were all very quite...
now, they have grown large enough to fly away.

Rabbits... more rabbits... ~ you can find me with them.
The wonderful striped wave petunia's would be a great snack for a hungry rabbit.
So, they are perfectly placed for an anytime snack.

Then, I could also be found plucking spent blooms from our posies.
Colors so pretty & bright. We have bloom offerings of pinks, whites, yellows...
are just a few. Why there is purple, red & blue too.
I can be found hoping that this years crop will be large enough for vases filled to the brim with posies from the garden, our garden.

Early mornings you can always find me watering the beautiful double clematis ~
it's bloom show only days away.
The geranium as well ~ it lives in this darling iron bird planter in white ~
a favorite gift from a special bud.

I could use a bit more time being found on the back patio for sure...
sometimes there aren't enough hours in my days. The cherubs await with more bunnies for some pretty posies this season to grow out back.
Of course, you can always find me... with Sebastian if were home in the garden.
I've never seen a dog that smells flowers before, he does ~ every single one.

You might just find me celebrating a birthday ~ mine.
April 28th~ a special day with My Man.
We had a little party with some special family on Sunday night ~ tomorrow is the actual day.
My card from the Man said... I get to pick my present~! Interesting, wonder where I'll be doing the picking... a junk store, a book store, a GPS store (i need that for navigating) or a store that sells a camera that will fit in my pocket? Celebratory, I'm really not. Lunch at a favorite place with David will be loads of fun. Should I take my camera? Maybe I will. I need to take pictures of all the special presents I've already received...
they are all just perfect. Wait til you see.
April 28 is also the actual Opening Day 12 years ago at the "village".
It's also the birthday of my longtime bud & fellow junker ~ Whimsy.
It's also the birthday of favorite Aunt Judy ~ remember her?
And the birthday of a Sam ~ sweet precious husband of Terri a dealer in the village family.
Busy... just plain good busy. living each day to the fullest. ~one vintage hag

~Happy 21st Birthday Clayton~! My "Baby" Is 21....

Wake up, Brother... you don't want to sleep through your birthday....
(not really, that was yesterday... Sebastian he is already at the gym this morning...)

Happy Birthday ~ Clay-10~!

Clayton as I wish you the "happiest" of birthdays today ~ you are 21.
Very hard for me to believe.
As a very proud Mom, we have certainly been through
a lot together.
I thank you for looking our for Lindsey and I ~
back in the days
when you were
our "man".

I thank you for giving me 7665 days (can you believe that...)
of having you for our "Son".
Good, Bad, Indifferent, controversy, happiness, tears, joy
all these memories ~ make you "Special".

If I had it to do all over, You bet... I would do it all again.
With you and Lindsey, by my side. Sure I would do many
things much different, skips some steps along the way.
But, I can not fathom life without you...
Today, we have "special plans" ~ a "special meal" with your family.
I can not wait to spend many more years as your "Mom".
To say that I am not proud of you for many things would not be true....
here are just a few.

1. Your constant
2. Your honesty
3. Your diligence (good or bad)
4. Your devotion
5. Your unshakable "wit"
6. Your service to our great country (worries me just a bit...)
7. Your steadfastness with life
8. Your energy
9. Your desire to draw closer to your family (even in bad times...)
10. Your love ~ for us, for country, for friends

Now, I could go on and on, I'm a Mom remember. But, I'll save the boring stuff.
As with everyday ~ I'm here to you... I've always been here for you...
and, I'll always be here for you....

Now, realizing that this is your favorite... here's to you "Clayton"...

From a great favorite of our family ~
movie that you can glean many life lessons "Coach Carter"

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves,
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other
people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

Fun in the snow... you have had. Football with your friends in 2002 at the Park.
Was so impressed that you made the local paper
wearing that favorite
UNC tarheels hat.

Bet you don't remember this, but "Butch" rode the motorcycle with all of
you at one of Lindsey's birthday parties ~ at
"Chuckie Cheese"~ way
back then, you were just a "little guy"...with a bowl cut and the blondest
hair ever...... with those big brown eyes.

What a "handsome Son" ~ met him for dinner with a "date".... funny stuff, huh ~Clay10...
our son has a "never ending wit" ~ charm too, of course...
he is so funny~!
And, is always up to something....

Works hard at our Chick-fil-a ~ busy young man. Class, Gym, Work, Study...
not in that particular order...
then, hanging out with friends.
Now, that is his favorite.

Shew... tennis shoes get a workout, always...

Loves "seeds" ~ especially, Sunflower Seeds... not a bad treat
since he is losing body fat with all this working out...

Loves listening to music, MP3 player works out well for him for commuting to GSU on Marta, or when he works out... getting really conditioned and strong for this "military life" he is beginning.

He's enlisted in the Army National Guard ~ he will serve our country with "honor". August 19, 2009 he will leave for Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri for Basic Training, then AIT.
then, the plan.... to finish his education at "Ashford University" in Iowa, not really,
he will take online classes from home with this university.

He adores UNC basketball especially. My Daddy was so proud of that....

Pretty much, all grown up.... wow, doesn't seem possible that he is grown.

A caricature of Clayton ~ the ultimate "sports nut" ~ and of course his "coming home outfit" ~ 21 years ago tomorrow we brought him home....

Clayton with "Nannie" ~ High School Graduation
So, you have these little babies and it seems like the second you turn around they
are all grown up... doesn't take but a minute. Enjoy your babies...
I certainly have enjoyed mine...Yes, special music you love, just for you today...

Love Your Man ~ Mom
"Make yourself a blessing to someone.
Your kind smile or pat on the back just might pull someone back from the edge."

Going to a "chick redneck card party" Tuesday ~ gotta get my yoo-hoo's, spam, tattoos, and my nascar hat ready ~ maybe I'll wear overalls and roll my sleeves up to hold some cigarettes ~ what else could I do to fit in? Really don't think of my self as a "red neck" but I'm sure willing to try. I so want to be part of this "club"...

This is "Macy" and this month I confused her "Mom" ~Terri's birthday with her "Dad" ~ Sam's. So, you will meet my friend "Terri" this week ~ another in the talented line up of "village" dealers ~ will include some booth photos' and the popular "ducks" she sells everyday~!

Jeanine's Potato Soup

3 c. frozen country style hash browns
8 oz. block of cheddar cheese ~ shredded ~ she uses "medium sharp"
8 oz. bacon ~ cooked and crumbled
