"Hag Happenings"... still trying to catch up... The "Chicks" Night... lot's going on...

Is it just me, losing a week or so has left me feeling so behind...
do you ever feel like you are never going to catch up?
Gosh... that's me lately. I hate that feeling, a bit overwhelmed but I am
making progress, I think anyways.
Behind on post, not satisfied with this little blog.
Behind telling you about "Chicks Night"....
Behind on pricing inventory that is riding around with me in the Yukon.
Behind on the Village newsletter & calendar that needs to be ready by Friday.
Let's not forget ~ Easter is Sunday... meal plans and preparations.
Decided to take one thing at a time... see what you think~!

New blog wallpaper ~ do you like it?
I'm never this indecisive...
but never got a "right nice"
feeling with the former paper. Tell me, is this new one a keeper?
I love spring time ~ love distressed ~ love "busy bee's"...

Love this image ~ and there was sort of an "Easter Parade" last night.
(image from tiedupmemories site, thank you)
"Chick's Night" ~ We each had to wear a "bonnet"...
So, we were in the home of Ingrid Jayne. Why is it
when I need the camera it's not in my purse...
when I have the camera I forgot to use it....
At Lindsey's Sunday the camera was in the bag I call a "purse"...
never made it out, never a thought...
Last night at Ingrid's do you think I remembered the camera? Heck no.
What is wrong with me...? I need to get this train back on track.
Louisa Elle & Carly Cute ~ they won the prizes for the best bonnets ~ cause they were.

"The Chicks" were creating... a "Precious Moments Ring" ~ not the Precious Moments
you may be thinking of ... these were precious moments to each of us.
Our Children, pets, husband, jobs, places..
whatever ~ each on a separate card on a ring to hold
Precious Memories ~ maybe, would be a better term.
Need to add my pictures... but made 5 cards (front & back) for my ring... will be cute finished and something that we can continually add to.

At Ingrid Jayne's ~ we did our work in her beautiful home filled to the brim...
with collections ~ she has glass jars, vintage matte white pottery, vintage dog planters, buttons, mercury glass that's new & old, cloche's, glass jars, grapes, pretty china pieces,
and more glass jars. This gal loves glass jars. They are so pretty & bright ~some full of treasures, some empty for imagination.
Our meal ~ a great salad to build... one of my all time favorites~ so, I enjoyed the heck out of my salad ~ then sherbet with a Peep for dessert.
I really like those Peep Chicks too... have you tried these sugary sweet
marshmallow type Easter candy ~
it's the shape of a Chick... just for us.

I will do my best to get an invitation back just for pictures... you need to see this amazing Victorian home ~ filled to the brim with the things we adore.

Sometimes, I feel like I spend much time at a desk... not necessarily creating but rather
catching up. When I concentrate thinking of how cute this little gal looks at her desk.
It makes me feel some better about time spent being at mine.
I am never behind, so perhaps that is why I'm finding this so hard ~
I am prompt, present and always ready for the next task. I will be again soon...
or, I'll just be crazed like now ~ trying to get ahead.

Goodness Gracious... Easter is Sunday.
Where does the time go?
Maybe I'm having trouble since our weather has been so cold these past couple days.
Doesn't feel like time for our Easter Celebrations.
Beautiful... That's what I think about on these Special Days.
With so much to be appreciative for ~ Easter will be that day for our family.
Even if it means... little sleep until then.
So grateful that I have my special family to celebrate with... never lose site of
whats important. Even in "catch up" times.

So, tell me.....
Do you like my progress?
New Wallpaper for this little blog....?
Do you ever feel overwhelmed? I don't like that feeling...
Are you ready for Easter Sunday?
Post what like 94 or 95... not long before I unveil that giveaway, don't be gone long.
You will want to register.... to win~!
Wanting to be back in the swing ~ have my train back on track... Now.

Great Saturday at the "Village", Great Sincere Friends & Some Really "crazy" Ones... I'm a "lucky duck"~!

David and I ended our day with dinner and of course, "margaritas"~ with "Mr. & Mrs. Ultimate Perfect Couple" ~have to protect their identity since not everyone will dine with a "hag". We both had "perfect" Saturday's ~ we both "sold a lot". So cause, for celebration with "M/M UPC" ~ Delightful "specialty" dinner (they rate...) ~ Super Company that I monopolized with my "trying Thursday afternoon details" Sorry for the too much gore.... & details... We enjoyed our dinner, "margarita's" and their company immensely. I promise no "profanity" next time and I will listen intently to details about your "weeks". Mr. UPC just started his own company ~ I'm thrilled for them. Mrs. UPC has the memory of an "elephant" she remembers things I told her years ago.... "Perfect" Way to End the "Perfect" Day, We are truly blessed to have this UPC as Friends. I'd say... Looking forward to next time.

Finally, broke my "no sale" streak at the "village" today - happens to the best of us. I claimed Saturday, "my day" ~ just in terms of having a sale and I had a great day ~ "thanks girls..." ~ Thrilled that I sold a Fabulous Vintage Yo Yo Quilt from a Kentucky Shopping Trip ~ A Wonderful Vintage Porch Swing ~ its hung on the ceiling in my spot for a while... it got a new "good home" ~ and many way cool vintage smalls were sold from the "hag" spots today. Yea~! I love selling treasures~!

Gone too soon ~ sometimes our "friends" even the dearest ~ leave us too soon. This is Debbie Atkinson, a dear sweet loving favorite customer ~ who we saw often in our cozy shop ~ she was in last on November 19 with her friend "Becky", another of our dear sweet regular customers & friends. ~ We love these girls, actually, we love all our "sweet customers"~ they are part of the "village friends". Both dear, Both sweet, Both loving, Both dealers at other shops, Both favorites, Both who share their smiles, their stories & both that care about all of us ~ genuinely~! Had the pleasure of seeing "Becky" in the shop Saturday, with her very sweet Husband, Art. ~ her first time back since the tragic death of "Debbie" a week after they shopped with us on "Hags" Holiday Open House Candlelight Night, those nights we share 'freshments, freebies, fellowship and and holiday cheer with all our "sweet customers", Our way to give back for their continued patronage to the "village" ~ a way for us to go "all out" for their shopping enjoyment. Becky ~ We "Miss" Debbie ~ We "Miss" those visits and the many special things we shared with her, we miss her stories & sometimes her tears, we miss our "hugs", we miss her search for the perfect "vintage bluebird china piece" to add to her collection, we miss hearing about her darling Daughter, "Donna" and that precious grand baby ~ "Claire". We miss you and Debbie in for a "junkin jaunt", always accompanied with your laughs & smiles. Becky ~ We are so glad to have you back out and about shopping ~ with us. We look forward to seeing you and Art again, Soon. Pictures we discussed will be sent to you today. Love, ~hag

My Saturday surprise, this "invitation" to our "Chicks Night" at the home of "Louisa Elle" ~ she is our "wild and not so crazy chick" ~ This picture was on the invitation we all received via email ~ I'm in. Can't wait ~ although, it really wasn't necessary for her to show off her "tramp stamp" (who knew...) she should have known we would "show the world wide web". Stay Tuned, I'm sure being in her home on March 3 will be a true delight.
Should I take my camera...?

I'd say in conclusion ~ I'm one "lucky duck" ~ to have friends like these, memories that will never fade and "plans" to do some really special things with my "dear friends". I'm blessed to be apart of this "business of bliss" ~ you surely meet the nicest folks that will be in our "forever's"...." All that and a comment from my favorite Author "Mary Kay Andrews" ~ I've had a Wonderful Week.

Grateful.... ~one vintage hag

my fingers & toes are crossed ~ tonight at 7 Theresa (time worn interiors) draws for her "100th post giveaway" ~ found a lucky penny yesterday ~ maybe, just maybe....

Dinner, "Hags", New Finds, New Friends, Preston....

Finished cleaning, had lunch at Chinese with Nannie & Clayton joined us too. He didn't have class and was off at work so he went to get his Military ID today ~ its official, he'll be leaving in August for Basic Training in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri ~ to learn how to defend this our Great Nation, I'm certainly a Proud Mom! ~ So, I'm back to finish this mornings post blogs ~ give you some news that needs to be shared and finally the definition of what these "Hags" are.

So, we had a great dinner, but during our meal I decided that a few "imaginary names" didn't fit so I revised those this morning so they are more fitting. Our whole "Chicks" group was there, Ingrid Jayne was in rare form and had trouble deciding what to eat, then had trouble locating her keys that had fallen the the bottom of her purse but were hanging on her finger all the while.... Flossie Belle got her straightened out. Ingrid needs a full time keeper. Lots of "wedges" were ordered and enjoyed, some of us shared food so we could try alot - everything at Urban Flats is excellent. Hilda Jean treated us to both dinner and desserts (the Chocolate Fondue's) - we were kind and shared. Yummy! and Thanks Hilda for treating us to dinner! I took the "Chicks" Valentines Cupcakes, made those instead of a cake yesterday so I would have a treat for my friends. ~ Next month we go to the home of Louisa Elle ~ I've been there before and LOVE all her collections, she decorates for others so she has a beautiful place filled to the brim with awesome vintage treasures ~ even a great "Crows Nest" sign. Now, all these "chicks" are bashful so there won't be any pictures, yet.... but someday I will catch one of them in a pose and you will be the first to see.

Now, let me share my latest find for me~ From "The Painted Fern" ~ Jocelyn makes these fabulous
~Hearts cut from the pages of an old French novel placed on burlap and soldered into delightful charms... Yours Forever... ~
My friend & talented dealer, Susan "My Vintage Heart" will be so jealous of my new heart charm & necklace ~ I'll tell her where to send her check, my payment went in the mail today. The Painted Fern also sells at Lakewood 400 an Antique Market venue pretty close to us. I will make going a priority to meet her and to check out the "Chippy's" - some of Theresa's (Time Worn Interiors) friends. You know how much I love Theresa's stuff.

Today, much to my surprise Sweet Repose left a message on my blog about the Gold Canyon candles that I adore. Take a peak at her blog, I'm ready to move to Iowa and live in her darling wonderful precious amazing Pink Cottage. I better go shopping for some coats because its really cold there. http://thefabricofsweetrepose.blogspot.com/ ~ this hag will be "following her to her path of paradise, Iowa". Can't wait to read more she has to share. I'd be honored to call any friend of Theresa's a friend of mine. Got another Sweet Message from Kathy ~ http://countrychintz.blogspot.com/ ~ she is a dear customer of ours at the Village ~ love peaking at her projects on her blog. We're looking forward to seeing you soon, Kathy ~ we'll have the heat on so you can stay warm while you shop! Sure hope Theresa gets her internet service back soon, I adore her blog and her cool stuff!

Now, let me tell you a bit about "Hags" - no, we don't talk about "little pretties", we don't have green or pointed noses, we don't wear hats, we don't have jet black hair but we do cover up our gray. We don't wear pointed shoes and we're basically to old for heels most of the time. We don't have tattered skirts but sometimes I wish I did. We don't ride brooms~ except around our lovely shop. Webster's says that a "hag" is ~ a noun ~Obsolete a female demon or evil spirit a witch; enchantress an ugly, often vicious, old woman~ So let me assure you we aren't obsolete, we don't care for demons or evil spirits (we have those picked up from our shop, another wild story for another day....but I can't wait to share about Mr. Brown....) ~ we are not often vicious, but can be when prevoked~ we aren't "old women" ~yet ~And we are surely not enchantress or ugly. We are the "Good Hags" - you know like Glenda the good witch. We pursue happiness, love vintage treasures, care greatly about the dealers at Vintage Village, Why we are promoters of the "coziest shop around" , we love shopping for junk, we love selling treasures, we love our valued customers, we love Vintage Village! We are fondly called the "Hags" by many (let me assure you we have been called much worse....). So my best guess is that we are just the opposite of what old Mr. Webster refers to as a "hag". Stop by the Village one day and maybe just maybe you will get to meet a "Hag" in person!

Now, let me end on a sad note ~ One of our sweet dealers, Wren has a special needs Grandson, his name is Preston. He and his sister, Kinsey went for checkups at the Dr. on Monday, Preston began having seizures and was rushed to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Atlanta. Thank goodness they were close at their Dr's office. He has been there ever since ~ this is the update I got from Wren this afternoon~
" got home last night to no electricity. Came on about 3:00 AM. BBBrrr cold... almost went to Taryn's. Monday night Preston's temp went up again and he had another seizure. He is also having trouble breathing. They have him on a machine to help him breath.... something like a C Pak.... They did a cat scan and lung x-rays, and bunches of tests, but can not find what is causing his temp to flare or the seizures. Doctor said he will be on seizure meds for the rest of his life. Taryn (Preston's Precious Mom) has not slept since Sunday night.
There are many things that are SURE about Preston ~ he has a loving Mother, Grandmother & Sister that care deeply about him. He has our Good Lord watching over him and the knowledge of the Dr's at one of the Best Childrens Hospitals around ~ I've only had the pleasure of meeting Preston once and he is a darling little boy, with an adorable smile ~ I sure he gets to go home real soon and rest in his own bed. We are thinking about all of you.....

More soon ~ one vintage hag

I'm off today ~ "Chicks Group Dinner Out Tonight"...

So, its my day off. What do you do when you have a day off? Today, is suppose to be David's day off too, and I thought we could do a little "junkin" - its been awhile since we were our together on the "hunt". He has a much different eye that I do so it makes for fun shopping ~ but his friend at work is out sick so David is working on his day off. So, I decided to get caught up on the dreaded paperwork...... yuk! Catch up at home, that will be fun and maybe make a cake. David was giving me a hard time this morning ~ he said "your off today, and you are making a cake?" - Sure I am and guess who will be the first to dig in? ~ David!~

Now, tonight my "Chicks Card Group" decided to have a Dinner Night Out, usually we take turns going to each others houses, which is way cool ~ cause, this group has great homes packed with ideas and loaded with their collections ~ but, tonight we will have dinner out together. This group of wild & sometimes crazy girls are a bit camera shy, but I will do my best to get some pics tonight. Because they say they are shy, I decided to change their names ~ protect the innocense ~ so here goes.

Meet my not so imaginary girlfriends ~ "the crazy chicks"~ with their new names....
  • "Sadie Mae" ~ very talented but has her very definite opinions.
  • "Julia Ann" ~ the most sincere of our group of gals.
  • "Louisa Elle" ~ our genuine friend, she doesn't have any habits....
  • "Ingrid Jayne" ~ Has trouble keeping up with her belongins ~the craziest of our group.
  • "Katherine Gay" ~ has the cutest smile, makes you think she is up to something...
  • "Carly Que" ~ the best handwriting of our group, what a cute gal.
  • "Flossie Belle" ~ the coordinator of our group, she is quite orderly.
  • "Hilda Jean" ~ the financial wizard, she balances our books.
  • "Lou Ellen" ~ the founder of the "chicks night out" ~ she keeps us in line.

All of these names really fit you "chicks" - can you figure out who you are in the group?

It's time for dinner out so we are going to Urban Flats at the Avenue in Snellville ~ have you ever eaten there? Wonderful wheat flatbreads garnished with a variety of toppings, my favorite, Turkey~Pear~& Brie. Yum! With the best wedge salad with wasabi dressing! I'll bring my appetite because this place is worth going hungry too. They also feature one of my favorite desserts ! Chocolate Fondue ~ with pound cake, marshmellows, strawberrys, pineapple for dipping. Maybe one or two of the girls will want to share, its enough for 3.

Hopefully, David and I will have some time this weekend for "junkin" - maybe Sunday. He needs some new but vintage treasures for the "village" ~ but we just haven't had the time lately.

Off, to make the most of my day off & that cake to bake!

fondly, ~a vintage hag
